TROUBLE FREE INJECTION OF FERTILIZERS. Mazzei injectors are high efficiency, Venturi-type, differential pressure injectors. A pressure difference between the inlet and the outlet of the injector creates a vacuum inside the body, which results in suction through the suction port. The suction can then be used to inject and mix fertilizers and water treatment chemicals into the water. Mazzei injectors are trouble free because there are no moving parts, and long life because they are molded from chemical resistant polypropylene.
Mazzei non-proportional injectors are excellent for drip systems in fields or high tunnels, provided that fertilizer is based on rate/acre rather than PPM (constant feed). Take lbs/acre per week divided by number of applications for the week and mix it with approx 5 gallons of water.
Operating: Mix and re-mix required fertilizer for irrigation cycle, start irrigation, allow pressure to stabilize in system, open the 2 PVC bypass valves and slowly close brass mainline valve till flo-meter rises to desired injection rate (GPH). Water pressure will drop 3-7 psi dependent on flow and injection rate. When fertilizer container is empty it will draw air, this doesnt hurt. Allow irrigation to operate for a while to ensure fertilizer is all out of system. Not working: Minimum flow rate not met? Clogged? check water and fertilizer inlet at injector (black tee). Liquid fertilizer too heavy? dilute with water. Suction leak? Water flowing in the wrong direction? Injector or Flo-meter may installed in bypass backwards.
